Therapy for Moms

PRENATAL & POSTPARTUM ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION
FOR INDIVIDUALS IN PENNSYLVANIA, NEW YORK, & NEW JERSEY

Are you feeling anxious and overwhelmed by the experience of pregnancy and motherhood?

You’ve been told that becoming a parent would be the happiest, most miraculous experience of your life. You’ve read all the books and blogs, and want to be the perfect mother. But perhaps you’re finding yourself feeling anxious and full of self-doubt about becoming a new mom.

Maybe you expected to immediately bond with your baby, but instead, you feel a growing sense of dread and fear that something terrible will happen. The sadness and anxiety feel so all-consuming, and eating and sleeping feel like impossible tasks to prioritize.

Motherhood has you feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. Sometimes it feels like you can’t share your feelings with your friends and are feeling alone and isolated. You're trying to juggle so many different priorities, but you feel like you're failing at everything.

Whether it’s your first child, or your family is growing, unexpected challenges can make the experience of being a mom more difficult. You’ve taken on a new identity and new body, and maybe you don’t feel like yourself anymore.

You may already struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, and burnout, but the added physical and emotional toll of pregnancy, birth, and motherhood is more overwhelming. This transition feels disorienting, but you don’t have to go through this phase of life alone.

We can work together so you can feel more connected to your baby & yourself again.

While we work together, you will:

  • Develop self-confidence in your new role as a mom;

  • Explore strategies to get your needs met and integrate self-care;

  • Learn how to identify the negative thoughts about yourself;

  • Learn to trust your instincts as a new mom;

  • Learning coping strategies to manage the demands of motherhood.

Postpartum anxiety & depression can occur anytime within the first year after birth. Research shows that 6% of pregnant women and 10% of postpartum women develop anxiety, and 1 in 7 women will experience postpartum depression. The stigma around maternal mental health shouldn’t shame you from seeking help.

My approach is empathetic and non-judgmental; I’ll help you feel supported in exploring and managing your new routine so you can enjoy motherhood and find satisfaction in your new role. Get support for the transition to motherhood and strike a balance between self-care and caring for your baby.
